Tardy Policy
Students who are later than 8:00 a.m. are considered tardy. Robo calls will be sent to the parents/guardians informing them of the students’ tardiness or absence from school.
Purpose
- To develop personal responsibility, accountability and positive behaviors to ensure college readiness and future employment.
- To recognize that learning and social growth occur within the classroom. Therefore, taking part in the entire class is fundamental to student success.
- To ensure that the policy is another means to teach students and not solely a punitive measure.
- To ensure that all components of the policy function in accordance with the state truancy and compulsory attendance guidelines and CHS Vision of a Graduate.
Additional Details
- If a student receives 5 total tardies in a quarter, they may lose their status as “in good standing” and may not be able to participate in school-sponsored activities, events, (i.e. athletics, morning news, clubs, dances, performances, etc).
- Each week, tardies will be reviewed. Students will be notified when they are no longer eligible to participate in after school activities.
- Administration may decide during inclement weather to extend the entrance time for students.
- Students facing hardships or outside circumstances should speak to administration about accommodations to the policy.
- Students who arrive to school tardy will not be sent home.
