Courses can only be unlocked by the program supervisor once the student returns and commits to the attendance requirements.
3) In-person WorkStudents must attend summer school in person. Attendance will be taken daily. They must be supervised and monitored by teachers trained in the Edgenuity platform. Content tutors will be on site to help students needing assistance with the skills and concepts in their online coursework.
4) TestingStudents must take any tests or quizzes in person while being supervised and monitored by the classroom teacher. Teachers will not unlock the assessments unless the student is present to take it. If a student is at home and needs an assessment unlocked, they must wait until the next summer school meeting time in order to take the test or quiz in the presence of a teacher. This includes adding additional retakes for tests/quizzes.
5) At home workStudents are allowed to continue their coursework and online activities at home to complete the course sooner. This excludes any tests or quizzes, which must be done in the presence of a teacher. If a student fails to report to summer school and exceeds the attendance policies, their course will be locked and they will lose the privilege of continuing their work after summer school hours.

- All coursework must be completed by 12:00 on the last day of summer programming (July 25, 2024). Any work completed after that time and date will not be counted towards summer school credit. Supervisors will deactivate all summer school courses at that time, closing out the program.
- Courses must be verified by the supervisor and students must be checked out before credit for the course can be given.
- Once a student has completed their courses, they are no longer required to attend the program.
7) Coursework
Edgenuity courses have been customized to provide approximately 25 hours of coursework focusing on the standards and skills required to progress forward.
Grades 9-11 students (non-graduating) are limited to taking no more than 2 courses in summer school. Any additional credit recovery must be completed over the next school year.
8) Graduating SeniorsGraduating 12th grade students must follow the same guidelines as the other students. They are allowed certain exceptions:
- Graduating seniors are allowed to take as many courses on Edgenuity as needed to gain credits for graduation.
- Graduating seniors follow these guidelines for completing Edgenuity courses they are already enrolled in, or starting summer school credit recovery Edgenuity courses in June.
- Graduating seniors will receive their diploma from the main office once supervisors/counselors determine they have completed their requirements.
9) Behavior Expectations
Students will follow the same behavior expectations expected of them during the regular school year. This includes but is not limited to no violence or fighting, staying in only approved areas of the school, no abusive or derogatory language, no smoking, vaping, or drug use. Students and teachers will maintain a safe educational environment for students to work in. Failure to do so will result in dismissal from the program and possible disciplinary action.

Transitions Program (Incoming Ninth Grade Students at CHS)
Program Description
The Transition Summer Program is a uniquely designed opportunity for rising ninth grade students to have an engaging academic space that shifts their thinking on school and learning while simultaneously preparing them for the transition to the new expectations of high school.
This program looks to prepare students with the tools to make the positive decisions that are essential for high school readiness and success. It is able to do this through relationship building, curriculum geared toward the learners, introductions to high school personnel and field work (where students actively engaged with community stakeholders to build relationships that were mutually beneficial and establish a supportive partnership between the school community and the city of Chelsea).
Ultimately, students will be able to leave the program more acclimated to high school and with an elective credit toward their high school journey.Site Supervisor
If you have any questions, please contact the Transitions Program Site Supervisor Alec Lapan at lapana@chelseaschools.com.
