    Dear Chelsea Public Schools Community,

We hope our entire community enjoyed the Thanksgiving break. With temperatures decreasing and the arrival of the first full week of December, it felt appropriate to share with our community an advisory with important reminders about the winter ahead. The following communication includes tips to stay warm this winter and information about how the district handles school closures.

During the winter months, please ensure that students dress warmly with items such as a coat, hat and gloves. This is especially important if your child takes the bus or walks to school. Remember to check the weather forecast each morning to ensure your student is appropriately dressed for the school day. If you need assistance with staying warm this winter, please contact your child’s school. We can connect you with community resources that are available to help families.

In the event of inclement weather, school may be closed. Chelsea Public Schools will use ParentSquare, our school-to-home communications platform, to notify families of a school closure. Notifications will be sent as a text message, email and automated phone call. If you have not registered your ParentSquare account, please do so by visiting www.parentsquare.com/signin. Where you see “Register”, input the phone number or email address that you have on file with the school district to activate your account. Click here for a step-by-step account activation guide. Please contact your child’s school if you have any questions about your ParentSquare account.

School closures will also be announced on our local CBS, ABC, FOX and NBC television affiliates as well as on Chelsea Community Cable, www.chelseaschools.com, and our CPS social media accounts.

To ensure you receive all communications from CPS, it is of the utmost importance that we have accurate contact information on file. Contact your child’s school or the Parent Information Center (617-466-5500) to review your contact information, including your preferred phone number and email address.
