Everyone is Welcome: Sokolowski School Students to be Featured in City Hall Art Gallery

  • CHELSEA, Mass. -- What is justice, and how do I use my voice to advocate for it? This was the question that guided the Chelsea Public Schools Civic Action Projects this year. We are proud to support this initiative and bring it on display at Chelsea City Hall.

In this heartwarming project, third grade students from the Sokolowski Elementary School, guided by their teacher Joel Fagerberg, transformed a classroom assignment into a powerful gift for the entire community.

Students created welcome signs to express kindness and solidarity with immigrants in Chelsea. Each student designed a unique sign that celebrates inclusion and shares a powerful message: Everyone belongs.

The artwork will be on display in Chelsea City Hall during the summer months. There is a special Opening Reception on Saturday, June 28that 11:00 a.m. at City Hall. All are welcome.

This exhibit reflects the students’ empathy and their commitment to making Chelsea a welcoming place for all. It reminds us that there is no age limit to showing kindness and love—and that each of us has a role to play in building a more inclusive community.
