Dear Chelsea Public Schools Community, 

We felt it was important to continue to reaffirm that we are steadfastly committed to supporting our immigrant students and families. We recognize that this is a stressful and difficult time. Please know that at Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) we will not waver from our mission of welcoming and educating all. Every student belongs at our schools. You are valued, respected and welcomed in Chelsea. 

This week we were made aware of misinformation circulating on social media regarding potential activity of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in schools in Massachusetts. While Chelsea was not specifically mentioned in the social media post, we felt it was important to address this. The school district worked with the Chelsea Police Department (CPD) to confirm that this post was false and not credible. To reiterate, CPS does not coordinate with ICE. Click here to review the letter of support that was shared by the school district last week. 

We understand that such misinformation can cause fear and anxiety. We encourage you to rely on official communications from CPS for accurate information. If you have any concerns or hear any rumors, please do not hesitate to contact your student’s school.

To help maintain a safe and supportive environment, we also ask that you remind your students about the importance of not sharing unverified information on social media. Encourage them to report any concerns directly to a trusted adult. Your trust in CPS is greatly appreciated.
