CPS to Participate in City of Chelsea Memorial Day Event

This Monday, May 30, the City of Chelsea will host its annual Memorial Day Ceremony on the Front Lawn at City Hall. The ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. and all residents are invited to attend.
The event will include musical performances from the Chelsea High School Band, including students singing the Star-Spangled Banner. Elementary and middle school students from Chelsea Public Schools will participate by reading narratives to commemorate Fallen Heroes and by reading pieces of Student Poetry.
Elected officials and City officials will speak, including City Council President Roy Avellaneda, City Councilor Calvin T. Brown, City Manager Tom Ambrosino, Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta and Director of Veterans’ Services Francisco Toro.
This year’s Guest Speaker will be Retired United States Army Veteran Michael P. Lovato, the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at Chelsea Public Schools.
The ceremony will conclude at approximately 12:00 p.m.
