CPS to Begin Accepting Applications for Pre-School Lottery on January 31

  • A limited number of pre-school spots are available at the John Silber Early Learning Center for the upcoming school year (2022-23).

Beginning on Monday, Jan. 31, Chelsea Public Schools will be accepting applications for a lottery that will fill the available spots at the ELC. Applications will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 18, and they must be completed at the Parent Information Center (99 Hawthorne Street). Parents must bring their child’s birth certificate when they apply. The lottery will be held in early March on Chelsea Community Cable and YouTube. More information on how to watch the lottery will be forthcoming. Other pre-school lottery requirements include:

    • Child must be toilet trained to enter school in September, 2022.
    • It is not necessary to enter the lottery if your child currently attends the John Silber Early Learning Center.
    • Only one entry per child.  If you submit your child’s name more than once, your child’s name will be completely removed from the lottery.  One application per sibling.
    • Notification letters for children selected for a program will be mailed home the week of March 11, 2022.
    • Wait list letters will be mailed home the week of March 1, 2022.
