CHELSEA, MASS. -- Renowned authors and illustrators (and twin brothers) Peter and Paul Reynolds visited the John Silber Early Learning Center (ELC) to read to first grade and kindergarten students who gathered in the ELC Gymnasium.

  • The Reynolds brothers spoke to four groups of students, presenting to over 500 kids throughout Friday morning and early afternoon. The duo engaged the students with questions about what their dreams were, and what they wanted to be when they grew up. Peter then orchestrated an exercise to show that drawing can be performed by anyone, showcasing how by simply sketching letters such as “O”, “D”, “M”, and others that he could draw a person named “Alpha-Betty”.

The pair also read one book to each group, “Our Table” and “The North Star”. The former is Reynolds’ newest story that will be available to the public later this year. His presentation at the ELC was his first reading of “Our Table” to a live audience. Each student who attended the presentations on Friday also received a copy of “The North Star” to bring home.

“Keep reading. Never stop. Keep Drawing. Never stop. And keep being kind. That’s the most important thing,” Reynolds shared as he left Chelsea students with powerful messaging that is applicable for the rest of their lives.
