High School Athletics
The high school athletic program is open to Chelsea High School and Chelsea Opportunity Academy students, and is first and foremost an extension of the classroom. Student-athletes commit not only to enhancing their athletic skills, but also commit to holding themselves to a higher standard in academics. Additionally, student-athletes are required to act as positive members of the community. High school student-athletes represent themselves, their team, Chelsea High School/Chelsea Opportunity Academy, and the city of Chelsea.
The high school athletic department supports coaches in teaching student-athletes the importance of teamwork, respect, commitment, hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship. Winning is the goal, but not at the expense of these core values. Developing these values will support student-athletes throughout all aspects of life during and after their time at Chelsea High School/Chelsea Opportunity Academy.
All students at Chelsea High School/Chelsea Opportunity Academy are encouraged to try-out for an athletic team. Being a member of the athletic program is a privilege earned by those who are academically eligible and cleared physically. Being a student-athlete provides the opportunity for development physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.
The Chelsea high school athletic department adheres to all rules and regulations set by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA).
