2024 Chelsea Public Schools Commencement Ceremony

The Class of 2024

  • Congratulations to the Chelsea Public Schools Class of 2024 from Chelsea High School, Chelsea Opportunity Academy and Chelsea Virtual Learning Academy! These graduates celebrated their Commencement on Saturday as a graduating class of 390 students.

    Their Post-Secondary Plans, as self-reported by students, include:

    • 62% approx. of students attending a 2 or 4 year college
    • 7% approx. of students attending Other Post-Secondary (Vocational/Technical Schools)
    • 1.5% approx. of students going to the Military
    • 29% approx. of students going to Employment
    • 0.5% approx. of students attending Other or Unknown

    The Class of 2024 was comprised of 390 students including 326 from Chelsea High School, 36 from Chelsea Opportunity Academy, 21 from the Chelsea Virtual Learning Academy and seven out-of-district graduates. Other details about our graduates include:

    • 194 students spent 12+ years in Chelsea Public Schools
    • 43 were enrolled in CPS for 9-11 years
    • 85 were enrolled for 4-8 years
    • 69 were enrolled for less than 4 years
    • 110 Limited English Proficient Students and 63 Former Limited English
    • 6 different languages are represented among Proficient Students

$9.2 Million Awarded in Scholarships and Grants

  • Our incredibly talented graduates were awarded over $9 million in scholarship awards and grant money. Awards and grants were distributed from the following groups:

    • Specific college grants and scholarships
    • Tuition assistance grants and other scholarships

    • Pell Grants

    • John & Abigail Adams Scholarship

    • Various community scholarships (the CPS Scholarship Committee oversees)

    • City of Chelsea Scholarship (for students planning to attend BHCC)

    • Chelsea Resident & Community Scholarship Fund

Valedictorian & Salutatorian

  • Valedictorian - Gizelle Rodriguez

    CHS's valedictorian for the graduating class of 2024 is Gizelle Rodriguez. Gizelle is one of the hardest workers you’ll meet, excelling in everything she does both in and outside of school. Throughout her time at CHS, she maintained a rigorous course load full of honors and advanced placement courses, achieving a stellar 4.9 GPA, including 5 APs in her senior year. In addition to being a scholar, Gizelle is a star track and field athlete, captain, researcher, NHS member and Vice President of her class. We are all incredibly proud of what Gizelle has accomplished here at CHS and look forward to seeing what she will do next. Did we forget to mention? Gizelle is Brown University bound!

    Salutatorian - Isra Bana

    CHS's Salutatorian for the graduating class of 2024 is Isra Bana. Isra's unparalleled work ethic and commitment to excellence shine brightly in all endeavors she has taken on, whether it be within the academic realm and beyond. Throughout her time at CHS, Isra navigated challenging curriculums presented to her in honors and advanced placement courses. All her efforts culminated in a remarkable 4.7 GPA. Beyond her academic achievements, Isra has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service as a valued member of the National Honor Society, Black Student Union, Student Council, and as the Secretary for the Class of 2024. Her multifaceted involvement underscores her dedication to making a positive impact within our school community. As Isra sets off on the next phase of her academic journey, by pursuing a career in nursing at Northwestern University, we take immense pride in her accomplishments thus far. We eagerly anticipate witnessing the continued success and contributions she will undoubtedly bring to the field of healthcare. Congratulations, Isra, on this well-deserved honor, and best wishes for a bright and fulfilling future!
