Family Engagement

  • At COA, we believe in a holistic approach to education.  When possible we try to include caring adults in our students' lives outside of school to support their path to a diploma and beyond.  Parents, guardians and caring adults of our students are always welcome to visit and participate in our school.  Throughout the year we have events including parent teacher evenings, special cultural celebrations, post-graduation guidance orientation and other opportunities for you to join us.  Please pay attention to calls, announcements and information channeled through you students.

Contact the school by phone or email, we are committed to effective communication with you.

There are also many ways in which parents can be involved at our school.  Attend one of our events; get involved in the School Site Council, also attending the Parent Teacher Conferences and volunteer roles we may have during the school year. Even visiting the school, we have an open-door policy and welcome your visit.

    • School Site Council
      • Our school site council includes the principal, the parent liaison, parent representatives, and teachers. The Council work together through the school year to help improve our school community. Some topics discussed are school attendance / tardiness policies, the school’s turnaround plan, and parent involvement.
      • The School Site Council meetings are held once a month starting at 9:00am in the school cafeteria. All are welcome to attend and the minutes from the meetings will be posted on our school main page under announcements every month.
