Welcome to the Browne Middle School Community!
Dear Browne Middle School Students, Families, and Staff,
It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to another incredible year at Joseph A. Browne Middle School! Whether you are a returning family or new to our community, I want to express my gratitude for your partnership in fostering a school where every student is empowered to thrive.
At the Browne, our mission is to cultivate responsible, independent thinkers who are eager and prepared for high school and beyond. Guided by our five core values - community, growth, identity, rigor, and joy - we are committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of background, language proficiency, or learning needs, receive the support and challenges necessary to excel.
Our rigorous academic program engages students in high-quality, standards-aligned instruction across all core subjects and electives. Additionally, our What I Need (WIN) Block provides targeted support in math, literacy, and English language development to accelerate student learning.
This year, we continue to focus on deepening student engagement in critical thinking, writing, and discussion, ensuring that all students are actively engaged in meaningful learning. Through a cohesive instructional framework, our educators provide clear objectives, purposeful learning tasks, and actionable feedback to help students grow as learners and leaders.
We are especially proud of our Dual Language Caminos program, which continues to expand as we strengthen our commitment to bilingualism and biliteracy. Caminos students work toward earning the State Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious recognition of their proficiency in both English and Spanish. With the expansion of Caminos to fifth grade in SY25-26, we reaffirm our belief that multilingualism is a superpower - one that not only opens doors for our students but also enriches our entire school community.
At the heart of our work is the power of relationships and restorative practices. We strive to foster a culture where high expectations are balanced with high support so that every student, staff member, and family feels valued, celebrated, and connected. We know that when students feel seen and heard, they are more engaged, confident, and ready to succeed.
Families play a crucial role in our students’ success, and we are committed to building strong, collaborative relationships with you. Through regular communication, meaningful events, and shared decision-making, we work together to meet every student’s academic and social-emotional needs. Your partnership is essential in making the Browne a place where every child can thrive and experience the joy of learning.
As we embark on this school year together, I am filled with optimism for what we will accomplish. Thank you for your commitment to our students, our school, and our shared vision for excellence. I look forward to working alongside you to make this year a powerful and fulfilling experience for all.
With gratitude,
Katie Cook
