Four Chelsea Virtual Learning Academy students earned top honors in the National Baseball Poetry Festival’s Youth Poetry Contest, a nationwide competition for student writers in grades 4–12. The award-winning students will recite their original poems at the festival at Polar Park, showcasing the creativity and talent fostered through CVLA’s Creative Writing program.

Chelsea Public Schools received the Torchbearer Award at Discovering Justice’s 25th Anniversary Gala in recognition of the district’s leadership in civic education. CPS educators were honored for their implementation of the Children Discovering Justice curriculum, which empowers students to engage thoughtfully in their communities and democracy.

Chelsea High School alumnus Vlad Link, Class of 2006 and Chief Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy, played a key role in the historic recovery of the Artemis II crew after their return from a nine-day moon mission. Link’s achievements highlight the power of perseverance and serve as an inspiration to students across the Chelsea community.

Chelsea Public Schools recognized outstanding student-athletes, coaches, and performing arts students at a recent School Committee meeting. Honors included the Chelsea High School boys basketball team’s successful season, multiple Greater Boston League All-Stars, and students from the Jazz Band and Cantare who performed at Disney World—highlighting excellence in athletics, academics, and the arts across the district.

Chelsea High School students showcased leadership on a global stage during February vacation, with 11 students participating in the prestigious Harvard Model Congress Conference in Boston. Over four days, they engaged in a real-world government simulation alongside peers from around the world, building skills in debate, collaboration, and civic leadership.

CHS Jazz Band and Cantare performed at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World after being selected through Disney’s Imagination Campus program. Following months of dedicated rehearsals, the students impressed audiences with a collaborative performance that received a standing ovation. The trip, funded with support from Senator Sal DiDomenico, also included workshops and visits to all four Disney parks.

Chelsea Public Schools will host its annual District Art Show on March 14 and March 17 at the Williams School. The community is invited to view student artwork, including paintings, sculptures, and designs during extended public viewing hours.

Chelsea Public Schools has launched a new partnership with Harlem Lacrosse to bring intramural lacrosse to middle school students at the Browne, Clark, and Wright Schools. The program combines athletic skill-building with academic support and mentorship, expanding opportunities for students both on and off the field. 

Two Chelsea Public Schools leaders have earned statewide recognition for their impact on students and school communities. Amanda Alpert was named MSSADA District 5 Athletic Director of the Year for her leadership in expanding equitable athletic opportunities, while Alexandra Cross was honored as a 2026 Boston Business Journal Innovator in Healthcare for advancing student health and wellness across the district.

Chelsea High School’s Jazz Band and Cantare have been invited to perform at Disney World this spring, marking a historic first for the school’s performing arts program. The selected students will showcase their talent on a national stage while participating in professional workshops and educational experiences.

Chelsea Public Schools is hosting two superintendent fellows from Harvard University's Doctor of Education Leadership Program during the 2025–26 school year. Mentored by Superintendent Dr. Almudena "Almi" G. Abeyta, the fellows are gaining hands-on leadership experience while preparing for future superintendent roles.

Chelsea Public Schools has issued a notice regarding the upcoming destruction of certain temporary records in accordance with records retention guidelines.

Chelsea Public Schools students, families, and staff presented at Harvard University’s EdRedesign Institute for Success Planning Summer Workshop, highlighting the district’s Student Success Planning model. Students shared powerful stories about the impact of having dedicated Navigators, with one senior earning a full scholarship to Harvard Medical School’s MEDscience program. The presentations showcased CPS’s commitment to strong relationships, youth voice, and meaningful family engagement.

Chelsea High School students achieved their strongest Advanced Placement results in at least five years, with 351 students completing 603 exams and 40% earning scores of 3 or higher. Forty students were recognized as AP Scholars, marking a significant milestone in the district’s continued academic growth and post-pandemic recovery.

Members of the Chelsea Children’s Cabinet visited the Harlem Children’s Zone on February 12 to learn from its nationally recognized cradle-to-career model. The visit focused on strengthening community partnerships and expanding wraparound supports to better serve Chelsea students and families.
