Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2026–27 School Year

Chelsea Public Schools is now enrolling students for kindergarten for the 2026–27 school year at the John Silber Early Learning Center (ELC).
Kindergarten Eligibility
To enroll in kindergarten, your child must:
- Be 5 years old by August 31, 2026
- Be a resident of the City of Chelsea
Families can begin the registration process by contacting the Chelsea Public Schools Parent Information Center. Please call 617-466-5500 to register your student
Families do not need to register their child for kindergarten if the child is currently enrolled as a Pre-K student at the ELC.
The Kindergarten Experience at the ELC
Kindergarten students at the ELC receive a supportive, engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experience. Program highlights include:
- At least one teacher and one paraprofessional assigned to every classroom
- A curriculum grounded in high-quality instructional materials and developmentally appropriate practices
- Strong partnerships between families and the ELC
- Daily small-group and differentiated math and literacy instruction
- Daily child-centered, play-based activity time
- Daily recess
- A rotation of art, music, physical education and science classes
