Controlled Environment
CPS security staff are charged with maintaining a controlled environment for students, staff, and visitors in and around all school buildings.
All visitors must go through security prior to entering the building and will be required to wear a “visitor” tag during their visit.
Training and Resources
Annual Certification
Security personnel are certified annually in CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
Emergency Go Bags
Classrooms are equipped with Emergency Go Bags for quick response scenarios.
School Resource Officers
Four School Resource Officers are assigned by the Chelsea Police Department to support the schools.
Preparedness Drills
Security personnel in conjunction with local Police, Fire, and 911 dispatchers conduct a number of preparedness drills throughout the year:
- Fire drills
- Run, Hide, Fight drills
- Bus Evacuation
- Safe Crossing instruction
