About the Chelsea Professional Learning Academy

Chelsea Professional Learning Academy Vision Statement

The purpose of the Chelsea Professional Learning Academy is to provide a district-wide cohesive professional development curriculum to support the professional growth of educators. Courses will be offered at the ELC, the MCB Elementary Complex, the Williams building, and at Chelsea High School each month. Offerings will span grade-levels and content areas. ELC, Elementary, and Middle School offerings take place on the second Wednesday of each month.

Courses are offered at three levels each month:

  • 101 level courses—Induction Series
  • 201 level courses—Intermediate Series
  • 301 level courses—Advanced Series

Registering for PD Courses

In order to sign up for a Professional Learning Academy Course, and to receive PDPs, you must register for the course on the Chelsea Professional Development website.

To search for a course go to Offerings in the left-hand menu. You then have the option to view a calendar of offerings, view the offerings by category in the drop-down menu (under Chelsea Professional Learning Academy 2016-2017), or search for a course title. Once you select your course, click on the Register for this Course button. You will receive email confirmation that you have been enrolled. Please make sure that the courses you register for are the correct grade-span and level.

Note: Please register as early as possible each month in order to ensure that courses will run and presenters have time to prepare enough materials.

Parent Change of School Assignment Forms 2019-20

The Parent Information Center will be accepting Parent Change of School Assignment forms for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday June 17 through Wednesday July 3, 2019. Requests will not be accepted after Wednesday July 3. Please note that we cannot guarantee you will receive approval of your request. Every effort will be made to reassign your child to your requested school.

El Centro de Información de Padres estará aceptando los formularios de Cambios de Asignación de Escuela para el año escolar 2019-2020 comenzando el lunes, 17 de junio hasta el miércoles, 3 de julio del 2019. No se aceptarán solicitudes después del miércoles, 3 de julio. Tenga en cuenta que no podemos garantizarle que recibirá la aprobación de su solicitud. Se hará todo lo posible para reasignar a su hijo/a a la escuela solicitada.

Attendance Appeal Process
The attendance appeal process for the fourth quarter will begin on 6/5/2019 and end on 6/14/2019. Please contact Mr. Carangelo at 617-466-5043 to schedule an appointment in English. Please contact Mr. Velez at 617-466-5071 to schedule an appointment in Spanish. This is in compliance with our school handbook and all guidelines will apply.
