CASBC Meeting Minutes

About the CASBC

In 2012, the City of Chelsea and Chelsea Public Schools received an invitation from the Massachusetts School Building Authority to participate in a process to determine if the City was eligible for state assistance to renovate or replace the Clark Avenue School. (Public Presentation).

This process anticipates the formation of a School Building Committee. The role of the School Building Committee depends on local customs and charter authority. In Chelsea, the School Building Committee is advisory in nature and is established by the City Manager. In August 2012, City Manager Jay Ash appointed the following individuals to this Committee:

Member knowledgeable in educational mission and function of facility Morrie Seigal, School Committee - Retired
Local budget official or member of local finance Committee Edward Dunn, City Auditor
Members of community with architecture, engineering and/or construction experience Anthony Simboli, Commercial Developer
Other Clifford Cunningham, City Councilor - Delegate to the School Committee
Other Sara Beqo, Student Representative
Other Marilyn Garcia, Chelsea Restoration Corporation

The Committee represents a cross-section of City, business and community stakeholders and will provide valuable advice as the project progresses. This Committee meets periodically and information about upcoming meetings will be posted at this website. The public is welcome.
