    Operation iPad for Carlos! http://www.chelseaschools.com/cps/news/301/15/Operation-iPad-for-Carlos.htm

The students from the Functional Academics and Post Graduate program are working hard to make this happen... most recently cooking and selling delicious empanadas to raise money!

Update 3/15: Thank you all very much for your overwhelming support. A huge thank you for your generous donations towards Carlos' iPad. We have now raised $1064.55!!! That means, Carlos will get the iPad and the apps he needs to support his communication.

Again, I am so grateful to be a part of this community. Chelsea students and teachers raised $814 and we began taking donations only this past Thursday. Thanks for making this happen for Carlos. I will send out pictures when he gets it!

Today reminded us how grateful we are to work with this school community. Both students and staff were extremely generous in their donations and offered support in numerous ways.

A huge thank you to the students and teachers in the Functional Academics and Post Graduate programs, who have rallied around Carlos' cause. They made the empanadas, sold them before school and at lunch, and helped sort and count the money. It was great to see them using their talents to help another student.

Thank you to everyone who made this day so successful. If you still want to make a donation, come to or contact the Special Education office at Chelsea High School!

Dr. Seuss' birthday was honored with guest readers (including Asst. Superintendent David Weinberg) reading The Lorax, leaving a copy of the book for each homeroom. Berkowitz Reading Coach Karen Herman organized the second annual Read Across America Berkowitz door decorating contest.

This year's featured author was Eric Carle. Take a moment to look at a copy of one of Carle's books, then a door (or more) decorated by teachers and students. Classes got to view each door and students voted for their favorite. Which one won? Which one is your favorite? Parents and families are invited to view the doors at the March 9th Family Fun Night. Thanks to all for sharing the love of reading!

This year we are taking two teams (an A team and a B team) to the competition. A science bowl team consists of five members. We have been practicing for two hours every Saturday since January 14. The top 16 teams from the morning session compete in a single elimination tournament.

The ten students listed below will represent CHS. If perchance, you know them you may want to wish them luck or if you are superstitious then just tell them to "Break a Beaker."
